Berk Technology Left Hungry After Road Atlanta

Formula Drift Road Atlanta

Race Recap - By Bryan@BerkTechnology.com

Despite tasty southern food such as Cracker Barrel and Waffle House, the Berk Technology left Road Atlanta, GA, hungry – for foothold in Formula Drift Top 32. On the undulated Road Atlanta course, by the time of qualifying the Rydquist Racing / Berk Technology / City Tire powered by Champion Nissan 350Z gearbox took a stand with a ruined 3rd gear synchro ring, disarming driver Carl Rydquist when needed the most.

“It’s a shame. I just recently said in an interview that a dogbox is at the top of my upgrade list but we haven’t had a chance to get that done.” Carl says and continues, “The 2nd-3rd quick upshift is done in the easiest part of the entire Road Atlanta course, but it has to go quick. When the 3rd gear synchro wears out, the gearbox needs almost a second to allow the rpms to drop for the gear to go in. That is enough of a pause that the car straightens out with the fast chassis setup we were running. Very disappointing.”

Vegas Drift Rd 2 Wrap Up with Mauricio Ornelas Jr.

Vegas Pro-Am Round Two Wrap Up

By Mauricio Ornelas Jr.

Vegas Pro-Am Round Two (Competition) Outside Road Course at Las Vegas Motor Speedway March 30 (Saturday) 9am-5pm

Considering this was my first competition since my rookie Formula Drift season, saying I was anxious to drive was an understatement. My team and I had made a few changes to the vehicle that was sure to make a difference in the cars performance. I just needed some seat time to try them out.

The team and I arrived at Las Vegas Motor Speedway bright and early Saturday morning and quickly started setting up for the day. First and foremost was signing in and making sure the car passed tech. I drove it over to tech, Ray looked everything over and it passed with no issues. We were clear to start practicing.

I headed back to the pit area to gear up and headed to the track. The first three laps out I took it easy to get a feel for the track layout. Fourth and Fifth run out I was able to power through the whole track with no major...

Round 2 - Redline Time Attack - Race Recap

Written by Scott VanderHeide -- Motorsports Director at Fontana Nissan/NissanRaceShop.com

Round 2 of the Redline Time Attack was held at Willow Springs Raceway in Rosamond, CA.  After missing Round 1 at Buttonwillow, we were relieved that we were able to be ready for Round 2.

There were countless hours put in before this event, and I'd like to thank in particular Andy Turlo of Robispec for all of his late nights and time away from his family to prepare the Aerodynamics for Project SHART.  For this race, we came back with a full Aero package including a front splitter with canards, and rear aero including an adjustable rear diffuser...all hand fabricated by Andy Turlo.  I'd also like to thank Reggie Youmans of OSR Dyno in Fontana, CA for getting the motor ready and tuned for this event.  We still have a lot of work to do, as well as some improvements to make...but this was a good shake down for the car before the big changes to come.

Hopefully by Round 3, we should have about a 150whp bump in power over the current setup.  With the addition of a Turbo by Garrett GTX3067 turbocharger, we should be in the ...
