INTRODUCING OUR NEWEST TEAM DRIVER — MAURICIO ORNELAS JR.

INTRODUCING OUR NEWEST TEAM DRIVER — MAURICIO ORNELAS JR.

We at NissanRaceShop.com and Fontana Nissan are proud to announce our support for Mauricio Ornelas Jr. as he competes in the 2012 Formula Drift Series.  This will be his first year as a Professional Driver with this series and we are excited to support him!

Mauricio made his mark and earned his Professional License during the 2011 Vegas Drift Series.

Power, Style, and Skill…three things that make a good drift car/driver.  Dedication is also an important aspect.  Mauricio is a privateer in this sport and does most of the work on the car himself!

Up Close and Personal with Mauricio:

TELL US ABOUT YOUR CAR:

The Green 14!!  My car is a 1995 Nissan 240sx S14, with a modified Skyline RB25DET engine.  It makes close to 400hp and I built it from ground up, in my garage!

TELL US SOMETHING ABOUT YOU THAT MOST PEOPLE WOULDN’T KNOW:

I’m awesome at Wii Tennis!

IF YOU MELTED DRY ICE…COULD YOU SWIM WITHOUT GETTING WET?

Yes!

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN WORKING AT RACNG TO GET WHERE YOU ARE TODAY?

I’ve been driving for 7 years now but have only taken it seriously for the last 2 years.

WHAT DRIVERS DO YOU LOOK UP TO AND WHY?

Daishiro Yoshihara…I really like his driving style: smooth yet aggressive enough to get his point across.  Also because he took the time to shake my hand, pose for a picture and talk to me right after winning his championship and wished me luck next season.  Being a privateer, another driver I look up to is Aurimas Backhis because I used to drive with him his first year of drifting and seeing him run in FD and making a really good name for himself gives me hope that I can do the same.

STRETCH YOUR LEFT ARM OUT AS FAR AS YOU CAN, WHAT CAN YOU TOUCH?

My dog Nacho, who’s lying on my bed

AS YOU PROGRESS AS A DRIVER, YOU GAIN A LOT OF INSIGHT AND EXPERIENCE, WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO A YOUNG AND UPCOMING DRIVER?

Do it for fun!  My first competitive year was a blast for me, from meeting new people to driving new tracks.  After your first year, if you like it and want to take it to the next level, take the experience from your first year and apply it to your next season.  You will be a lot more confident in your driving and yourself.

DO YOU SING IN THE SHOWER?

Of course I do!

WHAT INSPIRES YOU?

My family and seeing loved ones happy

ANY SHOUT OUTS?

Mom and Dad, my amazing girlfriend Erica, Borracho Racing Crew, Raw Brokerage, IPS, Fontana Nissan and NissanRaceShop.com, and to all the people that have helped me get to this point!
